History

Dersim – a region of Anatolia characterized by diversity, Alevi tradition and the endangered Zazaki language. Despite massacres and deportations in 1937/38, the community preserved its identity and continues to cultivate it today in exile.

Literature

The site presents book covers and title motifs on literature about Dersim, including works such as Dersim’s Voice – The Children of 1938, texts in Zazaki, collections of poems or proverbs, language manuals and media reflections (e.g. “Basında Dersim”)

Tertele

Tertele refers to the massacre of 1937/38 in Dersim, in which tens of thousands of people were killed, deported or forcibly assimilated. Since 2009, an FDG project has been documenting the memories of the last survivors in order to secure testimonies and make the events visible as genocide according to the criteria of the UN Convention.
